Do you like to camp? Do you love nothing better than waking up in a tent in the morning to the sounds of nature? Is it important to you to spend time with your children outdoors so you can foster family bonds and instill in them a love and respect for their natural environment? Then Picture Camping is for you!

Are you new to family tent camping? Just remember, family tent camping is an art, not a science. There are as many different ways to go about a trip as there are different families! You’ll need a tent, of course– and there are dozens upon dozens to choose from. What works for me may not float your boat. You’ll need a packing list– but what you consider essential to a good experience may not even make it on others’ lists (some things, such as first aid supplies, are a given). You’ll plan to the nth degree– and then something will go wrong. Something almost always does, and believe it or not, it’s the circumstances that didn’t make the itinerary that often form the most lasting and beloved memories. So do your best to forsee and to meet your needs, and then go for it! Enjoy what winds up happening instead. You’ll have family stories and inside jokes to last for generations, I promise, if you just stick with it. You’ll wind up loving it if you give it a good try.

We love family tent camping, too. We love to read about it, talk about it, view pictures about it, and most of all, to get out there and DO it! Seasoned outdoorsman or utter newbie, we hope you visit our Shopping section to help you gear up, and our Blog for inspiration and information that will not only help you to picture a family tent camping trip, but to actually accomplish it.

We invite you to come on in and poke around a bit. So put your feet up, sit back, relax, and… Picture Camping!

We, Richard and Jean, along with our son Nathaniel, are a family that enjoys experiencing the outdoors and spending time together– so tent camping is the perfect fit for us! We are passionate about leaving the daily grind behind and getting back in touch with nature and each other whenever our schedules permit (and sometimes even when they don’t).

Like good Boy Scouts everywhere (Nathaniel is a scout and Richard an assistant troop leader), we take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints– and then I (Jean) get to come home and scrapbook, scrapbook, scrapbook– yeehah!

I look forward to any comments you may have about any of my blog posts, or any ideas you may have for new posts. Email us at picturecamping@gmail.com. Any questions? We’ll do our best to answer them promptly. Thanks for reading us!
