Here we watch as a lady’s inner “Class-A Professional Grade Camper” re-emerges after years of retirement. It’s always nice to get back into camping after a hiatus.

“New Jersey Moms Blog: A Camping We Did Go!”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009“Field Trips with Sue: Camping a Great Family Adventure”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009I like Sue! Anybody who camps in summer in the South is pure grit, plus she has a hint about dryer sheets that I’m definitely going to use. Read her post here.
“Jobless and Less: Vacation from Unemployment, Pt. 3″
Saturday, August 29th, 2009I chuckled a few times reading this one. “Camping,” the author writes, “let my family travel on the cheap and learn to really appreciate air conditioning.” The poor guy isn’t a natural: “I was so inept that I managed a couple times to put out a fire with lighter fluid.”
But he’s a fighter. “I was full and satisfied,” we read, “having mastered a useful skill – fire starting. It’s not a resume builder, but it will sure come in handy when continued unemployment forces us to cook over an oil drum-like trashcan underneath a BQE overpass.”
Actually, that last bit isn’t funny in a lot of cases. I’ve been running into a lot of articles about the newly homeless setting up tent cities all over the country again. Please don’t forget that homeless shelters can always use the donation of tents, backpacks, air mattresses, etc.– so as you upgrade, bless someone else, okay? In the meantime, enjoy this tent camping post.
“The Happy Rock: 13 Simple Tips to Make Tent Camping Easier & More Fun”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009I really like the tone of this post– attitude is listed first and last, and as you know, I’ve always said that the difference between a good camping trip and a bad one is a good attitude.
“Year in America: Camping in Cape Breton”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009I had to smile at the description of “stunt sleeping” in this post. Been there…
“Open Mind a Must On a Camping Trip”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009I agree wholeheartedly with the author of this article:
“The most important thing to bring with you on a camping trip is not sunscreen, insect repellent or even deodorant. It is an open mind. I know, I know, it’s corny, but the worst experiences come from the complainers.”
(You’ll have to read the article to see what she had to complain about– nothing a little tent maintenance wouldn’t have prevented.)
Wine Travel & Camping
Saturday, August 29th, 2009This sounds delightful: “Alabama is where wine travel and camping comes together.”
Yes, I’m still angling for all my Northern friends to head down south this fall and winter for blissfully heat- and bug-free camping… (and if you head to the Charleston, SC area and don’t look me up, well, shame on you!).
“Camping Trip at Least Spared Me Ignominy”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009This article by Jim Kersner is a hoot of a reminder to practice the Boy Scout motto even if you aren’t one: Be Prepared!, even, yes, in August.
“Forest Service warns Coloradans: Beware of camping Latinos”
Saturday, August 29th, 2009This is so bizarre I had to share it. Colorado’s Forest Service has huevos rancheros on its metaphorical face, big time!
“There’s No Place Like Home: A Camping with Kiddos Update”
Thursday, August 27th, 2009In this post, the author describes camping as “kind of like pregnancy and labor. Not fun, but the end result is satisfying.” Hmmm– yep, I’ve been on camp outs like that. It gets better.
